Why in the world should you and I worry and fret about the future? Why, if we know the Truth, do you and I worry – sometimes to the point of being sick – about the current state of affairs swirling around us, out of control, in chaotic disarray?
It’s because we don’t fear love and trust in God above all things, that’s why! That’s the frightful diagnosis and honest assessment of our spiritual health as we look at ourselves in the Mirror this morning.
Thank Jesus…
+The Holy Church is likened to a Hospital for the sin-sick and dying (not a gymnasium…)
+Holy Baptism is a Flood that kills sin and death in us and makes alive again
( … think how people would stand in line for the precious gift, willing to pay anything for it…)
+The Supper spread before us in the presence of our enemies – our infirmities, and weaknesses, the death threatening us as the wages of our sin – the Bread of Life we take, as prescribed, is the Body and Blood of the Great Physician Himself. ( … what other doctor would offer to pour out his life for his patient than this One … ) The Medicine of lmmortality.
Dear Christians: Our dear Lord went to the cross to destroy death and to give you and me the gift of eternal life. Because of what Jesus did for you and for me on the cross, our sins are forgiven. We are covered, not by an insurance plan, but in the righteousness of Christ…You and I are eligible for eternal benefits no matter what we know to be true of our pre-existing condition.
We are declared cleansed, holy and pure before the throne of God. Because the grave could not hold Jesus, you and I can be certain that we, too, will rise. And on that day of resurrection, we will experience never-ending joy and peace as we finally stand face-to-face with our Lord Jesus. That is what OUR future will be!
And this Good News is good news for you RIGHT NOW … It is CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN … change you can believe in, because it has already happened, in Him.
So, “Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say, keep on rejoicing! The Lord is near! Stop being worried … about anything … to the contrary in all things by means of your prayers and pleadings with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all that your mind can contemplate, will stand guard over your hearts and thoughts, in Christ Jesus.” Amen.
