This Is Us

Grace Lutheran Church, Storm Lake, Iowa is a congregation of the Iowa District West of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. We believe that the Bible is the inerrant and inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). The Bible reveals that all humans are separated from God by our sin (Romans 3:10-20). It also reveals that God became a human being, Jesus of Nazareth, through whom we are forgiven and restored to a right relationship with God (Romans 3:21-28). We call this announcement of forgiveness and reconciliation the Gospel, or Good News.

Our congregation believes the 1580 Book of Concord is a clear explanation of the Scriptures’ essential teachings on God, Jesus, salvation, and the Christian life.

We believe that Holy Baptism is a gift from God where, through water and the Word, He declares us to be His children (Acts 2:38-39). This gift is for all people of all nations, whether young or old, rich or poor, “up and coming” or “down and out.”

We believe that in the Lord’s Supper Christians receive Christ’s body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins (Matthew 26:26-28). This is a sacred and holy meal, reserved for those who have made a public commitment to the Faith believed, taught, and confessed by our congregation (1 Corinthians 1:10). If you are away from your home congregation, and would like to take communion with us, please get in touch with our pastors before you visit.

Most importantly, we believe that Christians are called not to condemn the world, but to save the world through the sharing of the Gospel. We show mercy to others as Jesus did, that all people might come to know God as a merciful Father who sent His only Son that we might not perish, but have eternal life! (John 3:16)
